A quick overview of adoption:
The PRC does not arrange adoptions or act as an agent for attorneys or adoption agencies. We can refer a birth mother to the appropriate resources if it is her choice. We do not counsel specifically or coerce into adoption, but we do believe it is a beautiful and loving choice and can provide information about the process.
There are two basic types of adoption: private and agency.
Private adoptions are usually arranged between the birth mother and the adoptive couple and legal paperwork is handled by an attorney.
Agency adoptions are handled through a service which matches birth mothers with adoptive families. The families are thoroughly vetted, including evaluations of the house and home life, background checks, and quite a lot of paperwork. An adoption plan can be prepared which outlines the boundaries of the relationship, if any, between the mother and the family both before, during and after the adoption.
